Privacy policy

What happens to your voice and your words.

Every station is recorded. You can’t run one without that. This page explains what gets recorded, who handles it along the way, how long each part is kept, and how to have it deleted. It replaces the waitlist version of 24 August 2026, which covered only the signup form.

1. What we collect

A station

Three things are recorded during a station: video of the examiner, audio of both voices, and a timestamped transcript of what you said. Your report is built from the transcript.

We never receive the video or the audio. Your browser records them and saves the file to your computer. Nothing is uploaded, and we keep no copy. What we receive is the text.

That covers the recording. Your voice itself still has to be sent over the internet for the examiner to answer you. Section 4 explains where it goes and what is kept along the way.

Your camera is optional, and the picture never leaves your browser. If you turn it on, you see yourself in the corner, as on a video call. That is all it is for. The picture is not recorded, not even into the file saved on your computer, and it is not sent to us or to any of the companies in section 4. No server and no file has a picture of your face. If you hide yourself during a station, the camera switches off.

The transcript is the most sensitive part, even though your name isn’t in it. Stations ask why you chose medicine, how you handled your worst shift, what you would say to a family that has just lost someone, and people answer those questions honestly.

Your account

You can run your first station without signing up: we open an account for your browser with no email address on it. To keep your reviews, to buy, or to claim a free full mock, you add your email address or continue with Google, and it stays the same account. It holds your email address, what you have bought and how many stations you have left. We don’t ask for your name, your school or your exam scores.

If you continue with Google, Google tells us your email address and the name and picture on your Google account. We use the email address to sign you in. We don’t use the name or the picture.

Feedback you leave

After a station you can tell us how it went: what went wrong, whether the review was useful, and anything else. It is optional. Your answers are saved with your account and used to fix and improve the product. We quote your feedback on medovo.app only if you tick the box that allows it, and never with your name.

The waitlist form

Your email address, your answer to the form’s one question, and the time you submitted it. The form doesn’t ask for your name, school, scores, phone number or country, and we don’t add any of that later.

The form service sees the IP address a submission comes from, as any web server does. We have turned off everything that would use it: no country lookup, no blocking by IP address and no spam check. (The spam check would have added a third-party tracker to this page.)

Visits to this page

We count visits with an analytics tool that sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and doesn’t fingerprint you by IP address, browser details or anything else. A small script reports how fast the page loaded, the page address and the link you came from. It doesn’t track you on other sites.

Our dashboard shows visit counts by country, browser and device type. There are no identifiers in it, so we can’t look up what any one visitor did.

Server logs

Our hosting provider sees your IP address in order to deliver the page and block abuse. We don’t keep those logs and don’t combine them with anything else.

Email you send us

If you write to hello@medovo.app, we keep your message and your address until we delete the thread.

2. Why we collect it

We don’t use your data for anything else.

3. What we never do

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have never done either and have no plans to. There are no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no data brokers, no Google Analytics and no Meta pixel.

We don’t train on your recordings or transcripts. We don’t show them to anyone or publish excerpts as examples. If we ever want to use one for anything else, we will ask you separately, and you can say no. The AI model that answers you doesn’t train on what we send it either. That is its provider’s standard term for our type of account, and section 4 says what the provider does keep.

We don’t use your voice or your face to identify you. Your speech is turned into text and the text is scored. No voiceprint is created, and nothing identifies a person by how they sound. Your face isn’t analysed at all: no face scan, no template, no expression analysis. The picture never reaches us, so there would be nothing to run it on. California treats biometric information as sensitive when it is processed to identify you uniquely, and that doesn’t happen here. We collect no other sensitive personal information either: no government ID numbers, no health or immigration status, no precise location, no racial or ethnic origin.

4. Who else handles it

A few companies process your data to make a station work. Each has a written agreement with us and processes the data on our behalf. The table shows what each one does and where the data is kept.

Three things to know about this table.

Not all of them hear you, and none of them see you. The services that give the examiner a voice and a face receive only the examiner’s lines. Your speech goes only to the services that turn it into text and write the reply. Your camera feed goes to none of them, because it is never sent into the station.

Your words go to the model twice. During the station, each thing you say is sent so the examiner can reply. After the station, the full transcript is sent again in one separate request so the model can write your report.

The model belongs to another company, but the account is ours. We send requests to them directly from our own account. Under that account’s terms, what we send is not used to train their models. It is kept for up to 30 days in logs they use to detect abuse of their service, and then deleted. These are their standard terms. We don’t have a zero-retention agreement with them.

Medovo is operated from outside the United States and Canada. Your transcripts and reports are produced and stored on servers in the United States. While your information is in any of the countries listed above, courts and authorities there can access it under local law. Canadian law requires us to tell you this before you start a station.

5. How long we keep it

Eighteen months covers one application cycle and the next, so if you reapply you can still see what you said the first time. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will. We may keep aggregate counts that can’t be linked to anyone.

6. Your choices

Wherever you live, you can ask what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it or send you a copy. Write to hello@medovo.app from the address on your account; that is how we confirm it’s you. We reply within 30 days. It’s free, and asking won’t change how we treat you.

Deletion removes your transcripts, your reports, your feedback and your account from our systems within 30 days of us confirming the request. One thing we can’t delete on request: the model provider’s abuse-monitoring logs, described in section 4. The provider controls them, and they are deleted automatically within 30 days.

If you are in California

The CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, gives you the right to know what we collect and why, to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of sale or sharing, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and not to be penalised for using any of those rights. We don’t sell or share personal information and don’t collect sensitive personal information, so the opt-out and the limit have nothing to apply to here. The other rights work as described above. You may use an authorised agent; we will ask them for written proof that you authorised them.

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal if your browser sends it.

If you are in Canada

Under PIPEDA you can withdraw consent at any time, ask for access to your personal information, and challenge how we handle it. If you withdraw consent to recording, you won’t be able to run stations, because a station without a recording produces no report. You keep everything you already have. Contact us first at hello@medovo.app. If we get it wrong, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

7. The email we send

We send emails about your account: a purchase, a receipt, a station that failed. The only way to stop those is to close your account. We send nothing else unless you ask for it. There is no newsletter and no pre-ticked box.

To stop any email that isn’t about your account, reply to it or write to hello@medovo.app. We act on it the day we read it, well within the ten business days the CAN-SPAM Act allows.

8. Age

Medovo is for people applying to medical school or residency, which means adults. It is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16, and if you tell us we have, we will delete it.

9. Security

The site works only over HTTPS. The .app domain is on the HSTS preload list, so browsers won’t load it any other way. Stations run over an encrypted connection, and the recording never leaves your computer. Our accounts that can access your data use two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but these are the measures we actually have in place.

10. Changes

This version covers the product and replaces the waitlist version. When we change this policy, the date at the top changes. If a change affects what we do with your voice, your face or your transcript, we will ask you to agree again before your next station.

11. Who to write to

Medovo is run by one person, Dmitry Shatalov, who is self-employed in Russia and decides how your information is used. There is no separate privacy department. Send questions, complaints and deletion requests to hello@medovo.app. Registration details are on the terms of sale page.
